Middlebury is a charming town full of pride and history. Downtown there are many small shops where authentic Amish goods, antiques and crafts are just some of the things you'll find.

Our high school is a comprehensive four-year secondary school with a wide variety of programs. Opened in the fall of 1969, the single-story building features a 450-seat auditorium and a 26,000 sq.-ft. gymnasium.

The adjacent athletic field seats 3,000 fans. A major addition in 1989 included 13 new classrooms and a swimming pool. The school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Northridge High School requires graduation credits in accordance with Indiana state law. (This requirement will increase to 40 credits for the Class of 1998 and those which follow.)

State law also requires two years each of mathematics, science, and social studies and four years of language arts. A year of physical education is required, as are one semester each of computer keyboarding and economics.

Heritage Middle School offers a wide variety of programs to students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Great efforts are made in program and student activity planning to meet the unique needs of students in the transition years.

Middlebury's four elementary schools offer students in kindergarten through fifth grade a core curriculum consisting of reading, mathematics, social studies, science, health education, English, handwriting, spelling, art, music, and physical education. All schools follow the district-wide curriculum. Each elementary has a very active parent organization and welcomes newcomers.

Teachers in all four buildings believe strongly in meeting the needs of the individual student. Our approach to contemporary education offers an intimate and dedicated system, focused on each child's individual intellectual and emotional growth.

Our elementary schools are supported by a community which takes great pride in its youth. Open houses, parent conferences, and other school activities often show 96% attendance.

All four elementaries offer special programs such as the Gifted/Talented Cluster Program, Title I, Reading Recovery and Latch Key Programs.

Teachers are currently involved in the following service programs: Math-Their-Way, Teacher Expectations and Student Achievement, Reading Recovery and Hands-On-Science.
