Situated in the southeast corner of Iowa, is the city of Bloomfield. With a population of over 2,000 people, this town is alive with energy, small business operations and wildlife. As the Davis County Seat, Bloomfield has much to offer in the way of commerce and recreation. Iowa certainly enjoys all four seasonal changes. With an average high in the 80's during the summer months, this allows for outdoor recreation such as golfing at the local Country Club or enjoying a walk or jog. The fall months are marked by a splash of color as the leaves display vibrant beauty, leading into winter. During the winter months, the mercury stays in the teens allowing for a beautiful snowfall and winter activities such as sledding and ice-skating. Lake Wapello State Park is a highlight of the area with shaded, grassy picnic areas and beautiful, sandy beach. This park offers recreation such as boating, fishing, swimming, camping and cabin rental. Several miles of trails are enjoyed by cross country skiers, snowmobiling, joggers, and hikers. A nature trail is situated on the north side of the park with excellent views of plant and wildlife. Another area attraction is the Wilderness Kingdom Zoo offering fun for the entire family. There is also a petting zoo for the kids to see and pet the animals for themselves. The Davis County Museum Complex is also situated in the Bloomfield area and offers history buffs a walk back in time to explore Americas past and what brought us to our present.
