Clear Lake is located at the junction of Interstate 35, U.S. Highway 18, an I&M Rail Line and the Avenue of the Saints Highway, and sits halfway between Des Moines (I-80) and Minneapolis. In addition, Interstate 90 is just 38 miles to the north of Clear Lake and the Clear Lake/Mason City Airport is just minutes away.

Clear Lake is where many North Iowa executives choose to live. The Clear Lake Independent Telephone Company's fiber optic and digital switching network handles customer calls with state-of-the-art transmission. The school system ranks in the top ten in the state. Located along the edge of a 3,685 acre lake, and with the historical Surf Ballroom in operation, recreational and cultural opportunities abound. Recently, Clear Lake has built a new elementary school, completed a $22 million sewer system upgrade, and is focusing on affordable housing and childcare that meets the growing needs of its local employers.
