Clive is a residential suburb whose major industry is retail development. Three new retail centers allow for convenient banking and shopping and there is a wonderful selection of restaurants.
The Greenbelt Park, which runs through the community, offers a multitude of recreational activities. Clive has two of the state's finest private recreational facilities featuring, racquetball, tennis and exercise. Clive recently developed a 32 acre park for softball, soccer, tennis and other activities and also added the new Walnut Creek Little League facilities on 20 acres of ground.
Each summer, Clive hosts a Summer Fest complete with carnival rides, cafes, live music, and children's activities. Our annual Running Festival through Greenbelt Park attracts more participants and support each year.
Clive is included in the West Des Moines Community School District, and the Waukee Community School District. Some of the special programs and awards include: U.S. Department of Education Award for Excellence; 78 National Merit Scholarship Finalists 1990-97; Community Education programs; NCA accreditation for grades K-12; as well as award winning extra curricular activities and before and day care.
