Colwich is a prosperous farming community located in northwestern Sedgwick, [SG], County. Winter wheat is the major crop and during harvest time in late June, the downtown area is clogged with farm trucks filled with wheat. Some of the local grain is used in the ethanol plant at the edge of town. The busy rail line that connects Wichita and Hutchinson passes through town, and K-96 is just north of town.

While you're there, stop in the pretty park on Chicago Street and examine the beautiful Sacred Heart church that faces the park. Colwich was incorporated in November 1885. The name was made by joining the syllables "Col" and "Wich" from the name of the Wichita & Colorado Railway.
