Goddard, Kansas
Population: 2,037
Located in Sedgwick County
Goddard is a quiet community of about 2,000 people with a low crime rate and an attractive work base from which to draw. A downtown business district and outlying commercial areas along major streets are home to businesses offering a variety of goods and services. Economically diverse, 15 businesses are located in the community's 40-acre industrial park, including the second-largest striping and decal manufacturer in the nation and the third-largest producer of trash carts. One industry boasts 170 workers while AT&T's distribution center welcomes 150 employees. With more than 2,000 school children riding buses to Goddard, arriving from all over the 60-plus square miles of District 265, it comes as no surprise that the school district is another major employer. And yet, for all of its thriving manufacturing enterprises, Goddard remains a white-collar community. Consequently, much of Goddard's housing is new, and many of its families are young.
