Located on the western bluff of the Missouri River, Leavenworth is thought by many to be the best of both worlds because of it's relative small-town atmosphere coupled with it's close proximity to the Kansas City metropolitan area and all it has to offer in the way of entertainment, shopping, employment and educational opportunities. The city itself is blessed with lots of history which shows in the architecture of many of our historical homes located throughout the town.

Sandwiched between Fort Leavenworth to the north, the home of the Army's Command and General Staff College along with many other government activities, with its own population of approximately 3,100 residents, and Lansing to the south, a small community of approximately 8,000.

Leavenworth is located in the Heartland, surrounded by smaller farming communities and well known for our midwestern values and hospitality. We enjoy a strong economy as a result of the predominant military and other government agency influence on the city.
