Liberal is famous for its annual "International Pancake Race" competition with Olney, England. Ladies have been racing through the streets of the two cities while flipping a pancake in a skillet each year since 1950.
The Landmark Center in downtown Liberal used to be the Warren Hotel. It is now a beautifully restored office/apartment complex. The "art-deco" features of the exterior and the lobby are well worth a side trip.
