Welcome to Salina, Kansas. The 2000 Census recorded Salina's population at 47,000. The unemployment rate averages 2.8% and Salina has plenty of industry to supply jobs---Tony's Pizza, USD 305, Great Plains Manufacturing, Exide Battery, Raytheon Aircraft, and Eldorado National just to name a few.

Salina is home to 50+ churches, 60+ restaurants, 120 doctors, 28 dentists and 18 parks including Oakdale Park which is the site of the annual Smoky Hill River Festival in June. The Bicentennial Center is located across from Oakdale Park and houses many sporting events, concerts and meetings throughout the year. Average temperatures range from 27 in January, 55 in October and April to 80 in July; however, it is not uncommon for the summer temperatures to reach the upper 90s and lower 100s. Salina has an excellent public school system with teacher to student ratios averaging 22:1. There are also several private schools within Salina. No child in Salina or the surrounding area can say there is nothing to do as the Recreation Commission, YMCA and YWCA offer a multitude of opportunities for extracurricular activities throughout the year.
