Until Fort Campbell was located in 1942, the area around Oak Grove was primarily made up of large farms. Many of the farms today are still owned by the descendants of the original settlers. Oak Grove is bordered on the south by Clarksville, Tennessee. Oak Grove, with a population of around 5,000, is a very young, progressive minded community, and 90 percent are military.
