Canoe and kayak along quiet ponds or the Saco River. Launch your own boat at one of our many public ramps, or rent a boat at one of the many marina's in the region. Boat, canoe and kayak rentals are available throughout the region. Recreational opportunities abound. Play golf (at 5 area courses). It has been suggested that the Bridgton-Lakes Region Areas should be called the "Myrtle Beach of the North". Play tennis or bicycle. Explore miles of scenic, country roads and find antique shows, festivals, old-fashioned public suppers, learn to quilt and go strawberry picking. Fryeburg Fair, our most popular Fall event, is held in the first week of October when the fall colors are at their peak. This is the time for crisp, clean air, apples and fresh pressed cider. Hunters dressed in blaze orange brighten the fall scene as they track large and small game. Don't be surprised if you see a moose! Antiques! Adding to the Bridgton area's quaint rural charm are many bits & pieces of history left unchanged over the decades. Aside from the advertised Historical Society Museum and other clearly labeled points of interest, the truly interested will find abundant 19th century architecture including the original Bridgton hospital, several early hotels and mill buildings. June is one of our favorite months of the year in Maine. It has the longest days of the year and often the best weather. September's days are still warm enough for boating and swimming, and the evenings are cool enough for a fire in the wood stove. We invite you to visit our corner of Western Maine and experience the wonder of our four seasons!
