Gorham is a desirable community in this area. It is a college town with the University of Southern Maine having a large campus here which is a sister to the campus in neighboring city Portland. Average house price in Gorham is 150-170 with many other new and older neighborhoods with prices ranging from 240-450. There are single family homes and newer condo developments with a planned area of another 200 being built close to the center of town. There are no waterfront homes closest lake access would be Watchic Lake about 10 mi. out of the center of town and Sebago Lake about 35 minutes out. There are not many available house lots and most land is now in developing subdivisions. There are a few multi units in the center of town but not an abundance. The community is historic, medium paced and a great place to raise a family. There is a newer High School, Middle School and Library. Gorham is about 15 minutes from the major city in the area being Portland. It is about 12 minutes from the large Maine Mall which has about 60 stores plus many restaurants in the area. One of Gorham's strongest assets is its convenient location to the City of Portland. There is also a wide variety of transportation resources that are in easy driving distance. Although Gorham has access to industrial amenities and major metropolitan areas, the Town has been able to maintain a small, comfortable village atmosphere.
