Manchester, Maine is a small town West of Augusta that serves as a bedroom community for the capitol. The town reaches North and South of Rt. 202 and borders a large lake called Cobbosseeconte (lake of the big bass) and some lovely woods and farms. The town has a strict zoning to maintain it's rural character and to protect the environment. There is a golf course with private membership, a wonderful garden center, an apple orchard and some commercial development mostly along the major route. Residents are on the whole happy with the low crime rate - pleasant surroundings, good school system and convenience to Augusta.
