Northport is home to the Home and Garden Television's 2001 Dream Home that will be given away this spring. The area was chosen for its beautiful coastline and grand mystique that is synonymous with the state of Maine. Northport, located just five minutes south of Belfast along Route 1, boasts a 9-hole golf course and a well-frequented Dance and Action Hall (The Blue Goose). It is probably best known and appreciated because of Bayside, a dream spot that hasn't changed much in over a century. Clusters of pure Victorian photogenic gingerbread cottages dot the shoreline. Some Baysiders make this area, which once brought only "summer folk", their year-round home. Some of the areas earliest settlers first stepped ashore at Saturday Cove where the nearby Temple Heights Spiritualist Camp has been active for over 100 years. In addition to its nice coastline Northport meanders inland to rural farms dotted by surrounding ponds and hills.
