Probably Maine's fastest growing community, Scarborough is spread over 54 square miles, reaching from the coast inland towards the mountains. Remarkably, Scarborough has balanced well its suburban character with an active business and industrial base that has allowed growth without incurring the problems often associated with "fast growth": it has maintained stable tax rates while expanding schools and services!

Much of the new construction ongoing in the town involves custom executive style homes with all of the popular contemporary features buyers look for, situated in new neighborhoods highly attractive to managers and professionals working at nearby "high tech" companies or in Portland.
