Although Standish is convenient to everything, it has been able to maintain some of its rural character.

It's located on the shores of Sebago Lake, the second largest lake in Maine, makes Standish not only a nice residential town, but also a wonderful place to play. A public launch area in Standish allows for boating access to Sebago Lake...swimming, selling, water skiing, fishing, ice fishing...all there. Standish is fortunate to have several other lakes within its bounds as well. The Saco River, a major river, runs through the town providing even more recreational opportunities.

The recreational activities are not only popular with the residents but with the non-residents as well. Standish is only two hours from the Boston area so many of the seasonal property owners are from out of state. Many of these property owners come every weekend year round.
