Maryland Real Estate & Relocation Guide

Calvert County, Maryland

Population: 50,000

Located in Calvert County

Calvert County is a special place to live in the fact that the urban sprawl has not taken over yet. The crime rate is low, schools are rated as one of the best in Maryland and the people are very friendly. The county is still rural even though it is the fastest growing county in the state. The county is unique in that it is surrounded by water, the Patuxent River on one side and the Chesapeake Bay on the other. There are many state and local parks which encompass waterfront areas with boardwalks and beaches. The parks also provide a habitat for wildlife in the woods and wetland areas along the water and its tributaries. There are businesses and services in the county, but not an overabundance of commercial growth. There are no massive housing developments as new homes must be located on 3-5 acre parcels, so houses are spread out.
