Carroll County lies 30 miles northwest of Baltimore and 50 miles north of Washington, D.C. It is one of the seven jurisdictions of the Baltimore metropolitan area. Its County seat is Westminster, and it includes seven other incorporated towns. Until recently, agriculture was one of the County's economic mainstays.
