Harwood, Maryland
Population: 4,200
Located in Anne Arundel County
There is much history in this area. In colonial times, large tobacco farms dominated the area for many miles, and ships docked at nearby locations on the Chesapeake to take the harvest to England. Old tobacco barns are still the most common landmark, with several surviving in each mile on any road driven. 10 minutes away on the Chesapeake, you'll now find great boating centers and waterfront restaurants. Residential development has been modest and a strong farm preservation bill is preserving much of the land. A mixture of older homes and newer communities dot the landscape and there are always some properties available. Occasionally, a 5-20 acre horse farm is available.
