Joppatowne, built on the shoreline of Gun Powder Ridge, is a water-oriented community offering many outdoor recreational activities. The greatest concentration of waterfront properties (condos, town homes, and detached homes) is found here. Mariner Point, a Harford County Parks & Recreational Facility, is a favorite family spot offering fishing, hiking, picnic areas, and a play ground. The area is served by major roadways including I-95, MD 7, MD 24, MD 152, and U.S. 40. The Harford County Transportation Service (HCTS) operates a fixed bus route from Joppatowne to Edgewood, Bel Air, and Fallston. The MD Transit Administration operates a bus route along U.S.40 to Baltimore. Small shopping centers abound and the large regional malls are found in Bel Air and White Marsh (Baltimore County). The medical needs are served by the Upper Chesapeake Health System with hospitals in Bel Air, Fallston ,and Havre de Grace.
