North Potomac, Maryland

Population: 23,000
Located in Montgomery County

Located just 12 miles from metropolitan Washington, D.C., this lovely city is home to 23,000 residents. Once a part of Gaithersburg, another enterprising urban area and attractive suburb of our nation's capital, local residents believed that North Potomac deserved its own name and zip code, independent of the surrounding communities of Gaithersburg, Rockville and Darnestown.

This community is an affluent one with lovely, large-lot homes, with the meandering 1,440-acre Muddy Branch Park, with abundant shopping and a new library. This is an area known for peace, quiet and tranquility and for those who can afford it, it certainly delivers all that and more!

Students attend the highly ranked Montgomery County Public School District, and for those looking to further their education, the prestigious George Washington University is located just a few miles away.

North Potomac has a long and rich history, and citizens of the region are doing what they can to reclaim access to rivers and other outdoor places. The designation of a Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail corridor is being used by communities in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania to develop and make connections among trails, historic sites and a range of recreational and educational opportunities.

Residents can also take part in recreation activities and clubs that reflect individual interest. One such organization is The Potomac River Jazz Club, which is a nonprofit society whose purpose is to preserve, encourage and promote the playing and appreciation of traditional jazz. For those looking for outdoor activities, the Potomac Palisades offers 100 acres of peaceful woodland. Potomac Overlook's Nature Center is the regional center for the year-round programs of outdoor adventure and environmental education.

Nestled among acres of wooded countryside, North Potomac's home sites offer large spacious lots in the two-to-five-acre range and expansive homes with four-to-six bedroom floor plans. Real estate has grown along its two major arteries - Dufief Mill Road and Quince Orchard Road. Lovely colonial estates with brick fronts and gabled windows range in price from $1 to $2 million in Potomac Chase, Farmlands, Hunting Hill Estates and Windmill Farms.

Properties in Quince Haven, Westleigh, Stonebridge, Dufief Mill and Mills Farm are popular for their simple elegance and affordable price range that start in the $500,000's to $1,000,000. Homes subdivided on smaller lot sizes in Quince Orchard Knolls and Potomac Ridge are equally popular and affordably priced for under $500,000. Beautiful traditional three-story town houses and condominiums start in the low $200,000's and range to the mid $400,000's. Amenities include community swimming pools, tennis courts and recreation facilities.

Residents of North Potomac love the warm environment that this community has to offer and are proud to be part of such a distinguished community.
