Residents live in Acushnet to escape and unwind. This small town of just about 9,500 is a laid-back, slow-paced, beautiful place to call home - and it is still affordable. Data from a recent Banker and Tradesman magazine showed Acushnet and Fairhaven as the area's two most affordable suburbs, while prices continue to rise everywhere else on the South Coast. Part of the reason may be Acushnet's lack of large developments or its allowance of mobile homes on buildable lots. Nonetheless, some homes in Acushnet can reach $500,000.
