Boxborough, Massachusetts

Population: 4,868
Located in Middlesex County

The Town of Boxborough is a small upland community with a hill top town center retaining well-preserved Federal period houses. Much of the community retains its period character, with little if any commercial or industrial development in its past or present.

Boxborough shares a zip code with Acton and in fact is known as Acton-Boxborough. It is a suburban community located 25 miles northwest of Boston. Although the population has almost tripled in the last three decades, the town has retained much of its rural New England character, as evidenced by the traditional town center and green, with fine examples of historic architecture, and the stone-walls and tree-lined country roads.

However, Boxborough is well prepared for the 21st century. It affords a full range of services to its residents and businesses, including an active town government, top-notch libraries, a nationally accredited police department, a full-time fire department, and local and regional school systems that are ranked among the top in the state.

Commerce continues to thrive and grow in Boxborough due in large part to its prime location along major roads, the commuter train stop, and its proximity to Interstate 495. A wide range of retail stores and services, a community theater, various types of commercial recreation and several museums, can all be found in the Boxborough area.

Being located only 25 miles from Boston, it is an ideal place to live and commute to and from the city. If life seems to be a little slow in Boxborough (which seems hard to imagine seeing the community offers so much!) you can always hop on a train and catch the bright lights of the big city, and be home again in a matter of minutes!

Homes are being built or renovated in this small town, and a sense of the history is retained, even with the new construction. Housing prices compare favorably to the area around Boston. Education is well thought out here and the schools have the reputation of being excellent, with many students furthering their education after high school.

Boxborough may be small, but it has so much! Proximity to Boston, great transportation, wonderful schools and better yet, a warm welcome from those who already call Boxborough their home.
