The town of Boxford is a residential community in Essex County approx. 25 miles north of Boston. The town is primarily rural in nature, and this characteristic has been maintained by a minimum lot size of 2 acres, which has been in effect since 1949. There are two congregational churches and two country stores in Boxford, which is the second largest town in the county. The Boxford Athletic Club Association manages several ball fields and a large swimming pond in the summer for children of all ages.

The many trails running though the town make it popular with hikers and horse lovers. Boxford is bordered by North Andover on the West; Haverhill, Groveland, Georgetown, and Rowley on the North; Ipswich and Topsfield on the East; and Middleton on the South.
