Blessed by nature, with the Charles River, rolling meadows and woodlands, Medway is said to be perfectly and conveniently located. Nestled 23 miles southwest of Boston with easy access to Rtes. 495, 95, 9 and the Mass. Turnpike, Medway is an easy and pleasant commute to Boston, Cape Cod and Providence, RI.
Originally settled in 1657, Medway was a part of Medfield until 1713, when it was established as a separate township. Open spaces well-suited for farming attracted the first settlers to Medway.
Traditionally a quiet community, Medway has retained much of the charm and colonial character of yesteryear. This is especially evident in the 30 acre Rabbit Hill District. Designated a national historic district, this area remains timeless in its Federal, Victorian and Greek Revival homes.
Medway offers excellent and expandable town services and a sophisticated approach to development which has guided Medway's growth. However, it may be Medway's excellent school system that makes this town such a desirable place for families to call home. The Town of Medway values its educational system and expresses, through its schools, its ongoing commitment to the future of young citizens. Medway's schools are dedicated to offering a wide array or programs designed to meet the needs or students and their families.
Medway has 2 elementary schools for grades K-4, 1 middle school for grades 5-8 and one high school for grades 9-12. Resource rooms have been established in all schools and a special needs programs has been developed. High School students may also elect to attend the Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in nearby Franklin. A large addition to one of the Elementary Schools is scheduled to be completed by the end of 1996.
