Located in Berkshire County

Often called "The Village Beautiful," Williamstown is a picturesque New England community situated in the northern Berkshires. Home to Williams College, its historic stone "halls of ivy" with sweeping front lawns flank the main route, inter- spersed by churches and chapels, their splendid spires and chiming bell towers lending a majestic air

Williamstown has a number of historic sites and places of interest, but by far the most notable is the Clark Art Institute. Among other masterpieces by well-known 19th century artists, the institute is considered to have one of the finest Renoir collections anywhere in the world.

In the summer, the Williamstown Theatre Festival takes place here, bringing the very finest theater productions to this community. Celebrities of theater and film vie for honors to appear on the Williamstown stage and are rewarded in kind by playing to capacity crowds every night.

Williamstown is located at the crossroads of the two major tourist routes of 7 and 2. Driving time to Albany, NY is less than one hour, Boston, 2 ½ hours, and New York, 3 ½ hours. Several major ski areas can be reached within one half hour’s drive of Williamstown, while Bennington, VT, the gateway to the Green Mountains, is just a few minutes north.

Those who are fortunate enough to be residents of Williamstown would prefer to pull up the drawbridge and preserve this very special town just as it is. There is a very strong preservation element and for this reason together with the mountainous topography and thousands of acres of state recreation land, Williamstown is likely to retain its village and rural character (no shopping center, only one traffic light) for generations to come.

In summation, Williamstown is a quintessential, upscale New England community.
