Michigan Real Estate & Relocation Guide
Corunna, Michigan
Population: 3,381
Located in Shiawassee County
Located on the Shiawassee River, this picturesque village contains many historic turn-of-the-century houses and an elegantly styled courthouse, (which is definitely worth a walk-through if you like Victorian architecture).
There is also a scenic city park on the Shiawassee River that includes a reconstructed "village" of historic buildings that have been moved there from other locations for the purpose of preservation.
Economically, Corunna has a diverse range of small businesses and is also tied in to the commerce of the greater Owosso area and other surrounding cities. This means there are many opportunities for business in the automotive industry as there are manufacturing plants of various kinds spread throughout this region of Michigan.
Finding the right home here is as easy as taking a leisurely drive around town. The Corunna area features single-family dwellings in new city subdivisions. People who prefer older architecture may choose a historic home located on tree-shaded streets. Homes are reasonably priced in this section of Michigan and homes rarely cost more than $200,000, unless you are looking to buy an honest-to-goodness mansion! Land is also readily available, and you can choose your lot size and location at your leisure!
Local homebuilders are ready to serve your construction needs, while a number of landscape and design firms help make the home even more attractive with manicured lawns, trees and shrubs. Other businesses specialize in lasting home improvements and home furnishings.
Schools here not only meet the demands, but set even higher goals for itself and its students. The district encourages parent and community involvement with committees and clubs. It's not unusual to see parents and grandparents alike rooting for their kids on the sidelines of games and concerts and all the other school activities that take place.
This area is heavily forested and there are many small streams, lakes and rivers right in the neighborhood! If fishing is your thing, then this is the place for you! For horseback riding, cross country skiing in the winter, snowmobiling, and hiking, Corunna is your piece of paradise!
Corunna has retained a sense of the old, while moving with the times and making itself a modern town with modern conveniences. Its location is wonderful, close to the water, and to other beautiful towns in the area, and yet it has its own distinctive style and way of doing things.
