Home of the mighty Red Wings and Detroit Pistons, Detroit has so much to offer! Each passing month sees new developments in the revitalized downtown area of Detroit, and that revitalization is spreading to other parts of Detroit as well.

Many businesses are making Detroit their headquarters, either for the first time, or are returning to Detroit because they see the changes in the city. GM, for example has made their home here, as have some major computer software companies, and it is easy to see why!

Located on the Detroit River, all roads it seems, lead to Detroit. The views from downtown are spectacular, something that is not lost on enterprising builders who have converted several old
warehouses into bright and airy lofts that overlook the Detroit River. And the river is a breathtaking sight, spanned by the Ambassador Bridge, with ship traffic and beautiful Windsor on the opposite bank.

The old established neighborhoods surrounding the downtown area are filled with historic homes, many of them built by the turn-of-the-century wealthy auto manufacturers. Positively palatial houses are the order of the day here.

House prices are reasonable here, and have been rising steadily to reflect the changes that Detroit is undergoing. Homes in the Detroit area have beautiful details in the architecture, and buying one of these is like buying a piece of history.

Two neighborhoods in particular stand out in regard to good housing and excellent public schools, Palmer Woods and Rosedale Park. Both neighborhoods are well established, have beautiful, large, brick homes on well-proportioned lots. These areas are popular with the professionals who work and want to live in Detroit.

Not only is Detroit home to some of the best sports teams in the world, but is also home to the "Big Three" in the automotive industry. To that end, the Cobo Center hosts the American Auto Show every January, one of the biggest events in the world. And what an event it is! Thousands of cars, innovative creations sit side by side, to be touched and looked at by hundreds of thousands of people.

There is always something to do in downtown Detroit, whether it is dinner at the famed Summit, a revolving restaurant at the top of the Renaissance Center (known fondly as the "Ren Cen" by locals), or at the Whitney, famed for its desserts; or take a day at Belle Isle, the small island right in the middle of the Detroit River, take a "cruise" down the river and look at the local sights, or spend a day at the Science Museum, or at any of the local art galleries, the list is endless.

There are many areas in Detroit for cycling, roller-blading, water sports, fishing, hiking, hunting or any other outdoor activity that catches your fancy. Wayne County MetroParks are popular places for the locals with many indoor and outdoor recreational activities available. The MetroParks maintain the beauty of Detroit, the river and the outlying areas of Detroit for all to enjoy.

There is a saying among the locals of Detroit, "We are Detroiters, and we're proud!" Looking at the changes Detroit is undergoing, looking at how the city of Detroit is preserving its history and yet moving into the future it's obvious to see why the population is increasing once again, as people move from the outlying suburbs back into the heart of Downtown Detroit, where the heartbeat of Detroit truly is.
