Farmington Hills is located in southern Oakland County. This city grew as an extension of the city of Farmington and incorporated as a city in 1973 under a home rule city charter. Today it includes many diverse businesses and shopping areas, and it is also the home of several major corporations. It is also host to several institutions of higher learning, including Oakland Community College, William Tyndale Bible College and an extension campus to Wayne State University. It has a population of approx. 80,000 and covers 33.4 square miles.
The city hosts a number of parks and recreational areas, along with numerous cultural offerings. In addition, the city has easy access to Detroit and the rest of the metropolitan area, thus providing residents with an even larger array of activities and resources.
