Michigan Real Estate & Relocation Guide

Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan

Population: 9,764

Located in Wayne County

Some of the most elegant homes in the Pointes can be found in this quiet treed community. Some of the original ribbon farm houses (ribbon refers to the narrow strips of land leading to the Lake, that they occupied in the early days of Grosse Pointe), and larger frame homes (summer residences of Detroit's early moneyed citizens) add a quaint charm to the City. Two private schools, St. Paul and Grosse Pointe Academy are located in Grosse Pointe Farms.

This City has a beautiful small shopping district known as "The Hill" which has wonderful small shops and restaurants. Famous Lakeshore Drive begins in Grosse Pointe Farms and provides stunning views of Lake St. Clair. Drive down this road on any day and enjoy the ever changing lake and sky, watch the sailboats and admire the Estates in among the trees. The Grosse Pointe War Memorial at the foot of Lakeshore is a beautiful, elegant Cultural and Community center which serves all the Pointes. Formerly the Alger Estate, the home and grounds now provide a beautiful setting for outdoor concerts, weddings, meetings, and a wide variety of enrichment activities year round.
