Lakewood Club is located in northern Muskegon County, just south east of the intersection of US-31 and White Lake Drive. This is a quiet residential community situated around beautiful Fox Lake.

This village originated in 1912 as a resort association founded by the Mayo Brothers, named for its location in the woods adjacent to several lakes. It was assigned a seasonal post office in 1914. In the mid 1940’s, the area changed from a primarily resort town to a residential area, and the post office was opened year around. Today, its residential atmosphere is sustained, with very little business developed. It also functions as an adjunct community to the greater Muskegon area, less than ten miles away.
