Mundy Township, Michigan

It was first settled by Daniel Williams, Morgan Baldwin and Volney Stiles, successively, but all in 1833. The township was named Independence, but owing to duplication, it was renamed for Lieutenant-Governor Edward S. Mundy.

John C. Griswold became the first postmaster of Mundy of May 1, 1848 with the name changed to Long Lake, with George Judson as postmaster, on March 6, 1851 and then back to Mundy on March 24, 1852. The office operated until December 31, 1900.
