Park Township, Michigan
Population: 17,579
Located in Ottawa County
Park Township is a great place to land. That’s the slogan used by the township owned airport at Ottawa Beach Road and 152nd Avenue. And a lot of people think the township is a great place to land in more ways than one.
Perhaps like no other locale in the greater Holland area, Park Township is an aesthetic township. Trees, trails, yachts and Big Red, the grand old lighthouse with its own stately reputation, are all highlighted on the home page of the township’s official Web site, launched just last year.
While its next-door neighbor Holland Township has been receptive to rapid growth, Park Township’s approach to the future has been growth within moderation. Through a steady and conservative approach to land planning, the township has been able to attract development - primarily high-end housing - without losing its woodsy, sleepy image.
It doesn’t hurt that the township straddles Lake Macatawa, and its western border is where the sand dunes meet Lake Michigan. It is a beautiful place.
