Pleasant Ridge, Michigan

Population: 2,594

Located in Oakland County

Pleasant Ridge is the smallest incorporated city in the United States, being only a few blocks long and wide, cushioned between Huntington Woods and Hazel Park, north of Detroit in Oakland County.

The Pleasant Ridge Historic District is an early twentieth-century neighborhood containing a concentration of notable examples of Colonial and period revival, Prairie School and Arts and Crafts-inspired single-family houses set on a series of boulevarded streets.

Houses are reasonably priced in this area, with the average home at $180,000, and some as high as $800,000. Most homes here are single-family dwellings, built in the mid-1900's with the wonderful architecture that goes along with each era.

This is a well-established neighborhood with many professional people making their home here. Excellent public and private schools, as well as a great selection of universities make Pleasant Ridge one of the most desirable suburbs of Detroit. Ferndale Public Schools is the district that Pleasant Ridge children attend, and Ferndale is renowned throughout the state for fine schools.

Because of its proximity to Detroit many residents of Pleasant Ridge are very involved in the civic affairs of the city. This is a community that is very concerned about preservation of the past, and yet has plans for the future as well.

There is always something to do here in Pleasant Ridge, no matter the weather. The Michigan State Fairgrounds are located a stone's throw away from the suburb and there is always something going on there! Or, drive into Detroit and enjoy an evening at the Opera, the theater or perhaps at one of the new casinos. Or enjoy a night's fine dining at the Whitney restaurant, rated one of the best, not only in the United States; but in the world!

Pleasant Ridge, pleasant by name, pleasant by nature! Come and see why people choose to make this their home, and once established, never leave!
