Located on the shores of Lake St. Clair in southeast Macomb County, St. Clair Shores is home to 68,107 residents. It is a mature suburban community. During the last few decades much of the residential development along the lakeshore has undergone restoration. The city was incorporated in 1951 and is often referred to as the "Boating Capital of Michigan". St. Clair Shores is known for its six large marinas located between 9 Mile and 10 Mile Roads on Jefferson Avenue. This strip is known as "The Nautical Mile" and has an abundance of entertainment and dining spots. There are 14 miles of canals marking the rear lot lines of 900 or more homes in St. Clair Shores. There are over 3,000 city owned or private boat wells in the city.
St Clair Shores is a sportsman's paradise, situated on the shores of Lake St. Clair. Boating, fishing, sailing, wind surfing, ice skating, ice fishing, etc. abound for the water lover. Annually the Venetian Festival attracts many viewers to the decorated boat parade. The Nautical Mile, along Jefferson, between 9 and 10 Mile Roads, is famous for the most marinas & boats per square foot in the country.
