Located in the Detroit metropolitan area, Troy is a growing and changing community. The town's business landscape continues to expand rapidly as new companies move into the area. While the industries that have settled into Troy are quite diverse, efforts are underway to make Troy a major technology center in the state of Michigan. Troy boasts one of the best school systems in the country. Recently, local taxes were used to fuel a technology drive in Troy schools, and with a large number of corporations and world headquarters in the area special programs have been set up with the Troy Chamber of Commerce. In addition, test scores rank among the highest in Oakland County. Several athletic clubs and sports centers provide physical fitness and fun all year long. Several area golf courses and an aquatic center are popular during the summer months. For kids, there are plenty of opportunities for fun, whether it be sledding, swimming, or taking in a community theater production at the new Civic Center.
