The City of Arden Hills lies 8 miles north of the downtown areas of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Arden is a small city situated in Ramsey County, and covers a scant 9.4 square miles with about 9,700 people currently living there, although that is changing.

Arden is part of a venture that Ramsey County started back in 1962. At the time, Aldrich was one of a handful of indoor ice arenas within the State of Minnesota. They have indoor ice arenas. Aldrich Arena opened at that poi facility was so popular that nine additional ice arenas were built. These facilities serve over 700,000 skaters and spectators each year. With ten indoor ice arenas, Ramsey County has more ice arenas than any other county in the state.

Arden also offers cross-country skiing and other recreational activities. The city has two types of trails for people to use, each type has a different function: there are the park trails, which are located within a county or regional park, and may be paved or gravel. These trails may take you through wooded areas, open prairie, or active recreation areas. There is a specific mountain bike trail, due to the effect of mountain bikes on the terrain; mountain biking is permitted only at the Battle Creek Mountain Biking Site, located near Arden.

Arden is a fast growing community in the St. Paul area because of its proximity to the city.
