Becker is "Minnesota's Best Kept Secret"! It is a small but industrious community, conveniently located between Minneapolis and St. Cloud. Becker is located in the fastest growing county in the state. Becker has many wonderful features that make it a great city! It is situated only 15 miles from St. Cloud, and 45 miles from Minneapolis. With a population of 2,673 people, this community has seen trebled its residents in just the last decade.

In addition to being a "A1" residential area, Becker has a nice base of light and heavy industrial facilities. Everyone in the community benefits from the coal-fired electric generating facility dubbed "Sherco" (short for Sherburne County). The city enjoys the "lowest taxation rate in the state of Minnesota".

When many people where shouting "Not in our back yards", Becker provided a location for the generating facility. Now that the facility is built, many communities in the state are screaming for a "revenue sharing" plan to address the "unfair" advantages that the Becker community now enjoys. The city gets about $2.5 million of general fund revenue annually. More than 90% of this comes from the "Sherco" generating facility.

As a result of the strong industrial base, Becker has an excellent school system, because the plant has funded many of the new innovations that are used in the school. This is a place where the teachers can be found supporting their students inside and out of the classroom setting.

Becker has several municipal recreational facilities, with plenty of open air, and "free" space for hiking, trails, biking and four wheeling. Snowmobiling is also a popular recreation in the winter months.
