The Chippewa National Forest has trail maps available that are sure to please either the novice or the more experienced hiker. Some trails are known as a great spot to view bald eagles and other trails are self-guided nature hikes. During the fall and winter seasons, hunters take to the trails and find some of the best grouse habitat in the forest area. Once the snow flies, cross-country skiers don their boots, hats and gloves and enjoy trails while taking in the spectacular view of the frozen north. There is something so peaceful about quietly making your way down the snowy ski trial lit by a full moon.

Tourists and locals alike will enjoy a day of golf in the Cass Lake area. The Sandtrap Golf Course is located right in Cass Lake and will prove to be either a relaxing escape or a challenge to area golfers. The course is over 3,000 yards and is a par thirty-six over nine holes. This course is beautifully carved out of a wooded terrain, and boasts picturesque pines and watered fairways and greens. There are five more courses located within a half hour radius of Cass Lake. Additional state of the art golf courses are located in the nearby cities and towns of Walker, Bemidji and the Park Rapids-Nevis area.

The Moondance Ranch and Adventure Park affords a day of excitement for the entire family. For some really wild fun, the parks wildlife section is home to black bears, African lions, peacocks, lynx and lots more. The animals are tame and welcome loving pets from visitors. Come ride the areas longest water slide, relax in the outdoor hot tub, or go horseback riding through the Chippewa Forest. Major sources of revenue come from the gaming industry here in Cass Lake. The Palace Casino and Hotel is a beautiful resort nestled among the towering pines in the nearby Chippewa Forest. Cass Lake is home to the Memorial Pow Wow grounds. These ceremonies performed by the Native Americans include dances, brightly colored costumes and a certain spiritual depth. Today, pow wow's still take place on Indian Reservations. Some of these ceremonies are not open to the public, however, there are a few posted pow wows that do take place where the public is welcomed and encouraged to come, observe and even take photographs (with some exceptions).
