Driving to our community in west central Minnesota is easy when you connect highways 55, 59 and 79. Flying onto the great grassy airstrip of the Elbow Lake Municipal Airport is also a choice along with snowmobiling across the great trails which connect nearby counties.
Elbow Lake is part of the West Central Area School system, which also includes the communities of Barrett, Hoffman, Kensington, and Wendell. Elementary facilities are located in Elbow Lake and Kensington, while the new secondary facility, which opened in the fall of 1995, is located in Barrett, just 7 miles from Elbow Lake.
Elbow Lake offers recreation for all seasons. You will be able to enjoy the 18 hole Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course and the fabulous Tipsinah Mounds Park and Campground located just outside of the city limits. In winter, there are numerous trails on which to ride snowmobile and these connect with trails in other counties. Fishing can be enjoyed winter or summer and there are great hunting opportunities as well. Organized leagues for golf, bowling and softball are also available.
