The Glencoe and Silver Lake school districts completed a smooth and successful consolidation in 1996. GSL students in 9th - 12th grade attend GSL High School in Glencoe. GSL students in 7th and 8th grade attend GSL Lakeside School in Silver Lake. Both communities maintain their own elementary schools.

Our airport is now known as the Vernon F. Perschau Field. It is the closest paved runway west of Flying Cloud and the metro area. It is used on a daily basis.

Glencoe Area Expo - The Expo is held on the 3rd weekend of February each year at the Panther Field House. Over 70 area vendors display their products and services at the 2-day event. Admission is free to the event and entertainment is held throughout both days of the show. For information on being a vendor at the Expo, please contact the Chamber office.

Dairy Day - The annual Glencoe Dairy Day event is held during National Dairy month in June. A Dairy Day breakfast, free ice cream, and a variety of other dairy related items from local businesses are available on Dairy Day.

Golf Outing - The Golf Outing is an annual event that is held at the Glencoe Country Club. The event is an 18-hole best ball tournament. The tournaments winning team receives the ? Battle of the Businesses? traveling trophy for the year and Glencoe Bucks.

Glencoe Day's - Glencoe Day's is the annual community festival that is held during the 2nd weekend of June. Events take place Friday thru Sunday at Oak Leaf Park. One of the highlights of the weekend is the parade that is held on Sunday afternoon. There are food, events, and entertainment for everyone. The event is sponsored by Glencoe Day's Inc.

Holiday Events - A variety of events are held each holiday season. Some of these events include a holiday parade, a medallion hunt, pictures with Santa, a Chili cook-off, and toy and food drives.

Glencoe is a small community with the benefits of a number of large manufacturer employers and numerous smaller businesses. Culturally diverse, the community provides a variety of services and businesses to meet the needs of its citizens. While the City continues to grow, values remain constant with importance placed on quality educational opportunities, expanded health care facilities and increased recreational choices.

New water park in town attracts many surrounding communities and offer water slides, and a children's water fountain for enjoyment. Along with a large park nestled in the trees along the Buffalo Creek and supports a nature reserve of ducks, geese, deer and elk. Many excellent fishing and recreational lakes are only 10 -30 minutes away.
