Minnesota Real Estate & Relocation Guide

Mounds View, Minnesota

Population: 12,541

Located in Ramsey County

The City of Mounds View is a nearly fully-developed suburban municipality located in the northwest corner of Ramsey County in the Twin City Metropolitan region. The City is relatively small, encompassing only four square miles and 12,738 residents. Even so, the City is home to many diverse companies that in addition to serving the city and surrounding communities, serve the nation and other countries.

When the occasional visitor would pass through the township, one thing that probably startled them was the strange and awesome mounds of sand and gravel in its northwest corner, high enough to be seen from almost anywhere in the township and from much of Anoka County. Today, the mounds are nearly gone, sacrificed to the ravages of nature, the needs of this country during World War II when this area became an important small arms arsenal, and the thousands of loads of sand and gravel that have since been removed. Only a few small battered hills remain to remind us of our name.

Mounds View's largest employer is SYSCO Minnesota, which employs 615 people. Another notable corporate presence is Liberty Enterprises, which employs 308 people.

By 1938, developers had begun to realize the possibilities for suburban housing in Mounds View Township, and by September of 1939, there were 45 new homes in Knollwood Park. As the population grew, so did the community spirit and cohesiveness. Booster clubs, local newspapers and the new businesses were active in community events. The City today is known for its large residential lots and wooded areas as well as its diversity of housing choices. If you want it, you can have it here in Mounds View, from a cozy cottage, all the way to a luxurious, large home on a large lot.

Golf is always a popular pastime and Mounds View offers the best! The Bridges is a par 32, nine-hole executive golf course. Rated the #1 grass practice range in Minnesota, our lighted practice facility is the perfect place to fine tune your game or warm up.
