North Oaks, with more than 5,500 acres, is one of the largest Twin Cities suburban communities in a geographic sense, but one of the area's smallest in terms of population, with 1,250 families. This quiet, well-planned community is characterized by large, estate-sized lots, winding streets, majestic Oak trees and a high degree of privacy. It is an upscale area of acreage sites that offers the perfect mix of wildlife, lakes and city conveniences. North Oaks is a private city, governed by a mayor and four council members, all of whom are elected by its residents. North Oaks has 45 miles of private roads, which are maintained by an active homeowners associations, and just four entries into the community. Residents enjoy a beautiful, natural environment and close proximity to lakes, nature and ski trails and hockey rinks. The North Oaks Club provides opportunities for dining, golf memberships, tennis and so much more. Other clubs are also in the area. In addition, various types of dining and shopping are nearby.
