North Saint Paul, Minnesota

As part of the Metro North area, North St. Paul is part of a bustling community, served by an excellent transportation system, wonderful parks and other activities.

People live here because of the many outdoor activities offered by our rivers, parks, and wildlife refuges. Still others make their way here for conventions, festivals, sports events, concerts, and cultural attractions and prefer to stay in the laid-back quiet of the northern end of the metro region.

In dining, too, the available offerings run the gamut from old-line local institutions, through all the popular name-brand restaurants, to some exciting high-end establishments. Whether your taste runs to ethnic, gourmet, or comfort food, you can find something to tempt you here.

As you would expect, just about every variety of housing, and lifestyle, are available here. A three-bedroom ranch averages $150,000 in this area. Most homes will sell for the low to mid $200?s. Many homes have a rural feel to them, even if they are jostled close together. This has been achieved by builders ensuring that the natural habitat is maintained as closely as possible.

Stretching to the south and west of the lake, the City was envisioned as a community combining a busy commercial and industrial life with the peace and quiet of shaded, residential areas, providing a balanced atmosphere for work and play. In 1887, the town was incorporated as a Village and renamed North St. Paul. Of the 221 voters on that day, all voted for incorporation. They evidently foresaw growth of their community?growth that has indeed come to pass. From a population of 621 in 1888, North St. Paul has grown to an estimated 11,929 in 2002.

There are over fifteen community organizations that provide a wide range of social and civic activities, sponsoring events throughout the year, including:

Crazy Days, Friday Night History Cruz, Historical Society Ice Cream Social, Fall Roundup (first Thurs. after Labor Day), Fire Department Booya (held in Sept.), Fire Department sponsored Halloween Party (Casey Lake Park), Home & Garden Show, Coin Carnival, Local Business sponsored Toy & Mitten Drive (benefiting children of North St. Paul), POW/MIA March, Spring Clean-up (held in May), Fall Clean-up (held in October), and the Historical Society Antique & Collectible Appraisal Event.

North St. Paul has retained the small-town atmosphere with friendly personal service. Come and see how the vision for the city has been fulfilled and continues to be fulfilled!
