Horn Lake residents have access to a family practice medical facility as well as a full service hospital immediately adjacent to the city. Baptist Memorial DeSoto has 140 beds with an additional 42 bed wing under construction. In addition, several major hospitals are located in nearby Memphis. A medical complex will be built in the DeSoto Commons Development in the near future.

DeSoto County can boast of its many golf courses and Horn Lake is in close proximity to all of them. The Club of Northcreek lies only 1 mile to the west. Just 20 minutes south is Arkabutla Lake, rated as one of the top 5 crappie fishing locations in the U.S. It is also the second windiest lake between Chicago and the Gulf Coast, making it ideal for sailing and sail racing. Arkabutla also has full camping, swimming, fishing, water skiing, tennis, and a nature and equestrian trail.
