The City of Moss Point is located in Jackson County, MS approximately 38 miles west of Mobile, AL and 100 miles east of New Orleans, LA. Moss Point is a small, beautiful waterfront city that is full of warmth and hospitality. It is nestled in the nautical traditions and marine industry on the MS Gulf Coast. It is believed that Moss Point's name is derived from Spanish Moss hanging from the beautiful oak trees that adorn the city.

The residents are an ethnically diverse group of citizens that work together to make Moss Point a vibrant and exciting place to live and raise a family. Moss Point has many beautiful old homes, historic churches and is one of few cities, in the nation, that is home to an old-fashioned soda fountain, which operates daily at a downtown drug store.

The City maintains a fine public school system in the state with one high school, two junior high schools, six elementary schools, and a vocational building with shop work, woodwork, etc. Approximately seven miles west of Moss Point is Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and University of Southern Mississippi. They offer a wide range of academic and technical courses. The Moss Point Library offers a wide range of services and information.

Private and Corporate Air service is available at Trent Lott International Airport. Delta, Northwest, and Continental flights are available at Mobile Airport which is located about 30 miles east of Moss Point.

Until recently, Moss Point's economy relied principally upon a wide range of manufacturing plants in paper products, specialty chemicals, polymers, wood pallets, fish meal, ships, tugs, and barges. However, a number of new businesses, such as major hotel chains, eateries, banking facilities, etc. are emerging at its two interstate 10 exits, and has made the hospitality industry one of Moss Point's fastest growing employers.
