Oak Grove, Mississippi Oak Grove community is an unincorporated area west of Hattiesburg city limits and just south of U.S. Highway 98, revolving around Oak Grove Attendance Center. Oak Grove is home to approximately 9,000 citizens. The community today is a booming section of economic growth, with new subdivisions for housing starting up with increasing frequency. Many of these are planned neighborhoods with lakes, golf courses, and sheltered wildlife areas. Oak Grove School started more than 100 years ago as a one-room, consolidated school with 15 students. Today more than 3,500 students attend classes on the campus of more than 50 acres. Presently, a new high school is being built on a separate campus. Over the past few years, the Oak grove school system has been awarded some of the states most renowned awards which include a Level 5 accreditation and being listed as a Blue ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Level 5 accreditation is the highest ranking possible and is given to only a few schools each year. The health care facilities located in neighboring Hattiesburg offer many opportunities for jobs and state-of-the-art treatments that area not offered anywhere else. Oak Grove is also home to several doctor offices, clinics, and dental offices.
