El Dorado Springs, Missouri
Population: 3,775
Located in Cedar County
El Dorado is a small community located on the west side of the state in Cedar County, and not far from the town of Nevada. It is only a stone's throw from the Lake of the Ozarks, and is also close to Osage Village State Historic Site, which provides a fascinating look at that way things used to be. Hunting is an important recreational activity here, which is not surprising seeing that this area is very rural, and driving around here could put you in mind of the times of the settlers, except for the mode of transportation! El Dorado, like the rest of the state, definitely experiences all four seasons. You know when summer has arrived - temperatures have been known to peak up to the 90's and 100's. Fall is cooler and the colors are spectacular, especially here in the rural center of Missouri. Winter is a snow lovers' paradise here, and the softly falling snow on the meadows and fields cannot compare! Most homes out here are older and have been built on larger lots, prices though are extremely reasonable and you won't find a better deal than here in El Dorado! The best part is that you can still commute to Springfield, or Nevada for work, but be home in the country in time for dinner! It is a small close-knit community with a friendly spirit. Come and check out El Dorado, and perhaps like the fabled town, you will find your treasure here!
