Welcome to Grandview, Missouri! Nestled along U.S. Highway 71, our centrally-located, dynamic town is just minutes south of bustling Kansas City. It was here in Grandview on his family's farm where President Harry Truman first started his journey into a life of public service. With its small-town atmosphere and long history of active community leaders, Grandview is able to offer its 25,000 residents all the benefits and convenience of a diverse city. From our quiet neighborhoods to our busy shopping districts, from our rolling hills to Longview Lake, we invite you to explore our city's treasures and discover why our earliest leaders exclaimed, "Isn't that a grand view!" The more than 25,000 residents value a stable neighborhood environment, yet enjoy the convenience of having major interstate highways a few miles north. Grandview's proximity reinforces the local transportation network and makes national and international connections highly accessible. After he became the 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Truman originally planned to build his Presidential Library in Grandview, though politics and events changed his plans and the "Truman Library" was eventually built in Independence. His family's home, now known as the Truman Farm Home, still stands in Grandview and is maintained by The National Park Service. Visitors come from across the country to see this piece of history, as well as that small room where Harry Truman gazed out over the rolling hills of Grandview, composing affectionate letters to his future wife. We invite you to enjoy our 13 parks, totaling over 211 acres of beautiful landscape, natural wildlife, playgrounds, 3 ball field complexes, several sports fields and shelters galore. Take a leisurely stroll or bike ride along our trails, one of which is directly linked to the Longview Lake trail system. The two outdoor aquatic centers - Meadowmere Pool and John Anderson Pool - feature 3 "wet 'n' wild" water slides, 4 tube slides, diving boards, water geysers, sand volleyball courts, and colorful playgrounds! Discover a new talent in one of our recreation classes, or simply get in shape and feel great. And you won't want to miss all of the exciting events throughout the year, including the annual Father-Daughter Valentine Dance, Easter Egg Hunt, Arbor Day festivities, Mayor's Holiday Tree Lighting, and much, much more! Homes are extremely reasonably priced in this largely rural area, with most homes costing $60,000 and less. This will buy a three-bedroom home with two bathrooms. Historic homes will cost a little more, but come with their own charm already built in! Grandview is a small pocket of tranquility found in the midst of Missouri. Isn't it time you left the madding crowd and come to a place where everybody knows your name?
