Lolo, Montana
Population: 3,388 Located in Missoula County
Presently Lolo is a small-unincorporated town with less than 4,000 in population. As a matter of fact, Lolo is the largest unincorporated community in the state of Montana. Lolo is located approximately eight miles south of Missoula, MT at the Junction of Lolo Creek and the Bitterroot River. This is also the junction of US Highway 93 and US Highway 12. Lolo is considered to be the Gateway to the Bitterroot Valley and is the Home of 'Travelers Rest'. Lolo provides access to the Bitterroot-Selway Wilderness, and is about 80 miles north of the access to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness access. Fishing is available on Lolo Creek and Bitterroot River. Fish include Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Brown Trout, Eastern Brook Trout, Mountain Whitefish, and Northern Pike. Hunting in the area produces Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, Elk and Mountain Goat.
